Week 1
This week we set up our website and I enjoyed playing around with the different templates and fonts. We wrote our biographies and posted them on both our individual and team websites. The benefits of designing the websites and posting our biographies are that we are able to learn more about the people in our group. Later in the week we chose a poem to analyze for our poetry project. The only negative that came from this week was I felt overwhelmed with all the work. The SLO that was helping me achieve was 1 SLO because we analyzed the poems.
Week 2
This week we analyzed poems from other groups in the class. We had to do this through questions they answered on their websites. The academic benefits were as a group we were able to be introduced to 5 new poems and analyze them through the work from the other groups, which is different from just reading the poems. There were no cons from this week. The SLO that was helping me achieve was 1 SLO again since we had to analyze the other groups poems.
Week 3
This week we worked on our letters for the poetry. We have not put all our letters together yet to make them flow. Pros of this week are we expended our knowledge of our poems. The cons are it was a little confusing at first with what we needed to do. The SLO for this week was develop a set of literary techniques and skills, such as close reading, critical analysis, and cogent, forceful writing because we had to analyze the poem we chose and look for specific key elements that addressed our chosen letter.
Weeks 4-6 on Team Website
Week 7
This week we finished working on our fiction letter questions for “To Build a Fire” by Jack London. We each did a letter, totaling 5 all together. Then we each got an SLO to talk about in our letters, while one person got the Big Question instead. Once we finished our work, we posted it to the team website. The pro of this week is we got to go into more depth in the short story we were working on. There were no negatives. We hit on each SLO this week since we addressed them in our letters.
Week 8
This week we worked on finishing our letters for our individual projects for the fiction project. The pro of this week was we were able to work on our own paces since up until now we have work as a group for every project. The only negative was we were not able to split up the work among the group and had to do it all by ourselves. The week I addressed all four SLOS when I analyzing the fiction piece, “The Lottery”.
Week 9
This week we finished up our individual midterm projects and our group fiction project. The hardest part was deciding on what format I would present it, in the end I chose an essay for my individual and as a group we chose to use textexture. The pro of this week was since I did all the work for my project this project before spring break I had to just make it all flow into a coherent paper and make sense. There were no cons for this week. We address all the SLOS this week again because we had to use them all in the project.
Week 10
This week we wrote synopsizes on other groups’ drama presentations without reading the actual drama. We also created a prezi for our own presentation of our drama. The pros of this week are we got to look at other dramas that the groups did. There were no cons for this week. We addressed SLO 3 because we presented our project on digital media.
Week 11
This week we started the drama packet. As a group, we decided to use The Lion King as our drama. Next we each chose a letter to do. We looked up the screenplay of the movie and used that to answer our letters. The pros of this week were we started a new unit and I was able to re-watch The Lion King. There were no cons this week. We address SLO 1 & 3 by analyzing the movie and writing our letters.
Week 12
This week we finished up with our drama packet. We posted our final letters to our website and as a group we decided to use wordle to present our project. The pros of this week were we finished up our last group project. This is also the con of the week since it is our last group project and everything now until the end is individual work. We addressed all the SLOS this week since we had to add them into our project.
Week 13
This week we worked on our capstone projects during class. For my project I choice to do the TV show Parks and Recreation since it is one of my favorite shows. I chose 4 letters to answer and once I am finished with them I will post them to my website and create a project to go with it. The pros of this week are this is the last project for the class and it is similar to the midterm so I know what to expect. There are no cons for this week. I addressed all the SLOS this week since I have to they are part of my project.
Week 14
This was our last week of American lit. I finished up my capstone project and cleaned up both my indiviual website and team website. For my capstone project I decided to use textexture to present it. The pros of this week was I finished my capstone project and finished cleaning up my websites. There are no cons for this week. Since I worked on my capstone project, I addressed all the SLOs.
